SÃO PAULO, JULY 12, 2024 – The Ed-Mundo program, promoted by Atlas Renewable Energy in partnership with The Human Project (THP), which has already trained more than 50 young people in the interior of Bahia, arrives in Minas Gerais, offering training in information technology and entrepreneurship and aims to reach 120 young people in the municipalities of Paracatu and Pirapora. In 2023, Atlas was recognized for the relevance of the program in the communities where it operates by the IJ Global ESG Awards 2023 and the GRI Infra Awards.
The pedagogical concept aims to bring young people closer to the world of innovation, broaden the horizons and skills of adolescents beyond the socioeconomic and cultural context and enable students to become protagonists of social transformation, with subjects in programming, computer science, robotics and entrepreneurship. The initiative is part of Atlas’ strategy to promote the development of the communities near its projects, through education and the creation of new skills and offering new possibilities. At the end of the training, students will be able to develop robotics prototypes linked to the solar energy area.
“It is a project of which we are very proud, as it leaves a legacy for these territories and is capable of transforming the lives of the participants. Atlas’ goal is to perpetuate this knowledge and encourage these young people to study more and more”, emphasizes Fernanda Abreu, ESG Director of Atlas Renewable Energy.
In June, the Dona Rita Santos Braga School was visited by Mayor Alex César and the Secretary of Education, Jacqueline Guimarães. On the occasion, Atlas made parents and students aware of the project’s importance for the community and highlighted the importance of the partnership with the municipality. “I want to thank Atlas for this initiative in favor of our education. It is certainly a great opportunity for the entire school community, which in addition to acquiring knowledge, will have at their disposal new laptops that will be important tools for technological innovation throughout the school,” said Mayor Alex Cesar.
Entrepreneurship classes began in May with a group of 25 students in Pirapora and 20 students in Paracatu. Programming classes began June 12 in Pirapora and May 27 in Paracatu, with 21 and 23 students. Participating in the project are the Dona Rita Santos Braga Municipal School and the Coronel Ramos State School, in Pirapora, and the Professora Márcia Macedo Meireles-CAIC Municipal School, in the municipality of Paracatu, selected through a partnership with the municipal education departments.
